Toray Textiles Europe Ltd (TTEL) is a leading manufacturer of dyed and woven polyester and nylon fabrics. Their Mansfield site is the largest and most integrated synthetic textile production facility in Europe, bringing advanced Japanese production technology to the European market. TTEL specialises in the design, development, production, and certification of polyester and nylon textiles for a wide range of applications.
When Tecserv UK took over maintenance of the fire alarm system at the Mansfield facility, only half of the system was operational. The existing networked control equipment fire alarm panels were obsolete, and Control Panel A, which serves the dyeing section, had suffered a complete failure. This left the detection systems, call points, and sounders in this critical area inoperable, creating significant safety risks for the site.
Tecserv proposed supplying, installing, and commissioning a new networked fire alarm system while retaining the existing cabling and equipment locations. The upgraded system comprises Advanced MX-5 Pro Addressable fire control panels, networked on a fault-tolerant loop to ensure full site-wide visibility and control. Each panel features 24-hour battery backup support to maintain operation during power interruptions.
Tecserv initially restored full functionality using the existing equipment locations and then introduced a detector replacement program integrated into the site’s planned preventative maintenance (PPM) visits. Building on this, Tecserv is now working with TTEL to upgrade all outdated beam detection systems throughout the facility, further enhancing safety and reliability.
Please note Tecserv UK only operate within the United Kingdom – any work outside of this region cannot be considered.
