Fire and security company supplier of choice by retailer B&Q

Tecserv UK is pleased to announce that we have been appointed as a supplier of choice by DIY giant B&Q.

Our appointment follows a successful trial period, and we’ve now been given the mandate to maintain and repair fire alarm systems and fire extinguishers within 175 B&Q stores located across the UK. This will involve qualified technical engineers visiting each store on a regular basis to carry out all routine inspections and servicing to ensure B&Q meets its compliance and health and safety obligations, as well providing 24/7 emergency call out support.

Commenting, Sales Director Colin Milligan said, “In a retail environment, the last thing anyone wants is tohear a fire alarm go off, particularly if it is a false activation. Having to evacuate the building means reputational damage and lost revenue as rarely do people return to store. Regular fire alarm maintenance helps to ensure systems operate reliably and protect the safety of staff and customers. It also minimises the need for emergency repairs, reduces false activations, and ensures compliance.”

Steve Ellis, Tecserv UK’s Engineering Manager added,  “There were a few teething problems during the trial period which were quickly ironed out. We all learned from this experience and I am now delighted to say that the high level of service and internal relationships that Tecserv has worked hard to build mean that B&Q have stated that we are now a supplier of choice. B&Q now have fewer false alarm activations and the responsible individuals that have a legal responsibility for fire safety within each store feel much more supported.”

B&Q was founded in 1969 and is this year celebrating its 50thanniversary. It is the UK’s leading home improvement and garden living retailer and part of Kingfisher plc. B&Q employs 27,000 people in 300 stores across the UK which sells over 40,000 products in store and on-line.
