Fire and security solutions provider, Tecserv UK has been appointed to install an open area smoke imaging detection system (OSID) within the Britvic Plc, UK Distribution Centre based in Lutterworth, Leicestershire.
Tecserv has been installing and maintaining the fire and security alarms systems within the distribution centre for many years.
The distribution centre is a busy, 24 hour operation with vehicles and employees coming and going at all hours, 365 days a year. Britvic wanted to upgrade to a more reliable fire alarm system based on the latest technologies which would enable the activities of the distribution centre to continue without disruption from unwanted fire alarms.
Tecserv installed an Xtralis open area smoke imaging detection system (OSID) from Gent Honeywell. The system uses digital imaging, dual-frequency beams, and smart algorithms in an open-path device to discriminate between real smoke and other objects, including insects, steam, condensation and dust, thus dramatically reducing false alarms.
Commenting, Brian Hamill, Engineering & Facilities Manager, Britvic Soft Drinks said, “After a long research process, we agreed with Tecserv that an OSID system would be the best solution. The Tecserv engineers working on-site had a thorough understanding of health and safety and installed the new system very proficiently. They and worked extremely well with shift managers to co-ordinate their tasks to ensure Britvic operations were not impacted.”
Tecserv Sales Director Colin Milligan added, “An important aspect of our relationship with companies like Britvic is to provide ongoing advice which will continually improve their fire protection systems and introduce newer technologies that will protect people, property and processes. Tecserv installed an Xtralis open area smoke imaging detection system (OSID) as it is designed to overcome all of the shortcomings inherent to other open-area detection systems.”
