Glossary of fire, intruder alarm and CCTV system terminology

October 17th, 2017

Tecserv has launched a new section on our website to provide a glossary of key terms and phrases related to fire alarm systems, intruder alarm systems, access control and CCTV surveillance systems.

In every industry, there are common phrases and abbreviations that are used to describe regulations, systems, processes and equipment. On a world-wide basis, particularly when searched on the internet, this may mean that a phrase used in one industry can mean something entirely different in another context, particularly when words are abbreviated.

Our new glossary section is intended to be a quick reference guide to the key phrases used for fire alarm systems, intruder alarm systems, access control and CCTV surveillance systems.

The glossary is an easy to use A to Z of key terms. Simply click the letter of the alphabet that is at the beginning of your phrase and the glossary will expand with a list of key terms under that letter.

Commenting, Mark Smith, Technical Director said, “At Tecserv we are renown for our helpful consultative approach. In providing this glossary we are helping those who are new to the fire and security industry, or those who need a quick refresher, gain easy access to a useful resource centre.”

He added, “We hope that responsible individual’s, project managers and facilities manager’s will find our glossary helpful to their role and that it helps them improve their industry knowledge.”

We would be delighted to hear your feedback, particularly if the word or phrase you are searching is missing. Let us know, and we’ll add it to the list.
